7 Easy Tips to Instantly Set Your Writing Career Soaring…

New and veteran writers share the value of not going it alone… Do you have a safety net?

Did you hear about the tragic death of a Circ du Soleil trapeze artist in Tampa recently?

Although he was highly experienced, he fell while performing a new act … without a safety net.

Of course, writing without a ‘safety net’ isn’t life threatening. But, it can sure feel like a thud on the ground if you’re floundering.

That’s why writers (or soon-to-be writers) lap up a little guidance and feedback. Or, they just need someone to vent to when their page reads like yesterday’s trash or worse yet, is blank…

Here are a few tips on sharing with other writers…

  1.  Bounce ideas off each other to give yourself a chance to get clarity. If you can explain your idea clearly, you’re probably on track. If not, discussing it helps get you there.
  2. Get feedback from an extra set of educated eyes. Writers sometimes ‘fall in love with their own words. An independent reader can tell you if this is happening. And stop you before you run away into an undying romance with yourself.
  3. “Think out loud” to spur new perspectives. An idea can spark a new direction that inspires you when discussing it with others.
  4. Share successes and failures so you can learn a new path to take or what to avoid.
  5. To improve writing, see veteran writer John’s example below. Writers never stop learning.
  6. Fine tune your work almost like an unofficial ‘safe’ edit. Self edits will only get you so far.
  7. Gain confidence by sharing an opinion that’s valued. Helping other writers may seem generous, and it is. But, it also gives you an insight into what they feel is useful, which helps you as well.

New writer Len Lannard joins in writer’s groups to handle these points and more. There are two main groups she uses as she grows as a writer…

Len explains

“Even if you don’t know what you’re doing, chatting with people who at least share similar goals, will get you further.

At first, I needed someone to answer basic questions, a couple of times a day. So, that’s why I looked for a writers group. I found a large community who helped enormously. They still do.

Now, I’ve also got a writers group of four. (I found them through my big group.) Judi, Lisa, Roni and me. We meet weekly on Skype to troubleshoot, push each other, cheer, whatever anyone needs, I guess!”

Veteran writers agree it takes a team to succeed…

My friend John has been a writer for over 25 years. He’s been paid millions by clients for his specific type of writing skills. And, because of his reputation, he’s invited regularly to speak at writer’s conferences.

Even with all his experience and success, John often sits in the audience to get tips.

And he still conducts a weekly ‘roundtable’ writers group via Skype. They pick a piece of writing and study it.

John’s an American, but moved his family to Paris to live because of the freedom his writer’s life brings.

On the other hand, my friend Bob who’s been writing for over 30 years hates to travel. He’s happy to walk 10 feet from his bedroom to his home office in New Jersey each ‘work day’ to write.

Bob’s written 95 or so books on business and writing. He still doesn’t send anything ‘to the printer’ without some of his writers group taking a look.

Writers LOVE to share what they know…

Like my friend Steve … he’s worked in industrial manufacturing for over 30 years. Now he writes about it. Actually, he makes as much money writing as he does working his day job.

Although he’s been writing for a long time, he didn’t know where to find the well-paid writing gigs. (I think he wrote 320 articles for $5 each in the beginning.) But, when he found the right guidance, he was able to push past the struggling writer pay.

Steve uses LinkedIn to get clients for his writing business.

And he’s thrilled to share exactly how he does it with anyone who asks.

Get ready to launch your writer’s life along side Len, Judi, Lisa, Roni, John, Bob, Steve, and me!

You can read my story here and I’ll show you how to get your writing to fly high … starting today.

See you in a moment …

Join Parents with Lucrative NEW Stay-at-Home Careers as Writers Today

Dear Reader,

Why parents are creating wildly successful new careers as writers at home…

Whether they thought they could make money writing, or not!

Sherri joked, “I’m a non-profit writer … as in writing for no profit!”

A stay-at-home mom of three, Sherri loved to write.

But she had no clue how to make a living out of it.

Until,

One day in October 2015, Sherri stumbled upon a video featuring yours truly.

I invited Sherri to join a private club of writers…

Many of them parents … well-paid writers … working at home.

Because,

ALL of them knew some simple, yet little-known writing skills.

Skills I’ll share with you in a moment…

Hi, my name is Mindy McHorse,

‘Secret’ writing skills took me from zero to $114,000 annual income in 3 years.

The same ‘secret skills’ took Sherri to a guaranteed monthly writing income of $XXXX in just 18 months.

Sherri will tell you a little about her “Cinderella Story” in just a moment.

But first,

What are These Secret Writing Skills?

The real name for these skills is Direct Response Copywriting. A special name given to the many, many, many kinds of advertising you have at your fingertips nowadays…

“Direct Response” simply means – writing to get an immediate response…

Like Sherri, who writes informative articles for a women’s health newsletter. She wants her readers to ‘respond’ in a positive way… Maybe sign up to an email list, or buy a product.

“Copywriting” means writing that’s intended to sell a product or service. (It has nothing to do with the legal term so forget about that.)

Barefoot Writers call our secret copywriting skill, persuasive writing.

Why Copywriters are in High-Demand

Ever go ‘Googling’ and can’t quite find what you’re looking for? And if you do, you’re not sure you trust the site?

Me too!

That’s why smart product owners know that hiring the most persuasive writers is a smart business decision. They make more money if a writer is presenting well written, ACCURATE and easy to understand information.

So, copywriters write intelligent, creative “copy” about any product under the sun.

Because

There are always product owners looking to be at the top of their market.

They’re looking for writers who understand that.

Better Investment than Grad. School!

When Sherri joined The Barefoot Writer Club, she took to studying our persuasive writing skills like a duck to water.

Eighteen months later Sherri landed her sweet retainer writing newsletter articles for the women’s health company I mentioned… on a guaranteed monthly income.

Sherri explains

The first month’s check I received was more than I made the entire year before. It’s like a Cinderella story. I’m now making a full-time income years sooner than I would if I had gone back to grad. school as planned. It’s pretty miraculous.

 And

Last month Khloe Kardashian mentioned our product on her blog, and boom. I made an extra $300 to write the marketing blog response/news item for the company’s website.

My story resonated big-time with Sherri. I’m a mom of four gorgeous, energetic kids. And I too LOVED to write but I didn’t think there was money in it for the ‘not famous’ authors either!

Now Sean, who you’ll hear from shortly, failed high school English. But some of our other members’ stories resonated with him. So, he still joined our Club!

And boy, these days Sean’s even got the freedom writing at home to help home-school his daughter.

So, today I’m inviting you to join me at The Barefoot Writer Club. (Although membership doesn’t cost very much, I’ve still included a 365 day money-back guarantee. In case you decide this isn’t for you.)

3.2 BILLION Reasons NEW Writers are Needed Today

Dear First Name,

Have you ever thought about how many Internet readers there are? And who writes what you’re reading?

When you know, you’ll see why you’ve got tons of opportunities to become an online writer today…

Let me explain,

Say you hop online to make a quick purchase.

While you’re there, you do a little website jumping.

Mm bliss … an article, daydreaming about your vacation hut over the azure-blue lagoon in Bora Bora.

Or, maybe you’ve got a nagging problem. You want to get relief for that sniffle you can’t seem to shake. Possibly, you’re just enjoying a casual browse, without the ‘help’ of the desperate sales person lurking. (Can’t stand pushy sales people.)

So, lots of browsing, searching – AKA – reading on the Internet. (If you’re disciplined enough to hop on, do your banking and hop straight off, I’m impressed.)

See where this is going? You got it, online readers need writers!

Why New Writers Find a Profitable Home Online Today…

Now, here’s a staggering fact. You’re just one of over 3.2 BILLION Internet users and the number’s growing rapidly. (According to the United Nations Agency overseeing international communications.)

Plus, almost every savvy website owner is paying a writer to keep themselves relevant.

Think about how often you bounce off a site if the info doesn’t look up-to-date, interesting or appealing.

As a writer, it’s like a help wanted sign in the digital window today…

More Online Writers Needed … No Experience Necessary.

But, I’m sure you’ve still got questions. That’s natural.

Like, can you…

  • Avoid being that struggling low-paid writer you hear about?
  • Become profitable writing online quickly?
  • Write online for a well-paid, long-term career?

The answers are yes, yes and yes!

Because, other writers who started with no experience have already done it,

Like this Mom Mindy. She LOVES sharing the story about how she found her new writer’s life.  Check it out here.

Oh, also, she answers plenty of important questions that might pop into your head.

The Secrets of ‘Not So Famous’ Well-Paid Writers

Message: How to make a great living as a writer when you don’t have all the talent of a world-class author…

Hi Writer, (or soon-to-be)

Rebecca Matter here – I’m so excited hear your questions about my 9 Ways to Make a Very Good Living as a Writer report. Have you read it yet?

If not, I still wanted to touch base today and tell you a little about the simplicity of writing for a living…

Write the way you speak!

Doesn’t seem like such a big ask, does it?

Famous author Stephen King has this simple success ‘secret.’ He stays away from flowery, old-fashioned language. Instead, his writing is conversational. The reader really feels like it’s a personal chat they’re having.

King says “I don’t believe ‘With a hammer he killed Frank’ will ever replace ‘He killed Frank with a hammer.’”

I agree with him wholeheartedly!

You DON’T need to be a famous author to use King’s secret AND make your own great living as a writer. (To be clear, I’m not promising his kind of royalties.)

But a solid six, even seven figures is quite within the reach of ‘not so famous’ writers.

These writers have a simple, yet little known skill King doesn’t need as a book author.

Today, my friend Mindy gives you the scoop on where to find this simple skill.

And how she used it to kick-start her six-figure income at home while starting a family.

Lucky for her, she loves watching the sun rise from her home office in New Mexico. So, lots of her writing ‘work’ is done before her kids even jump out of bed each day!

Go here to see how you can follow in Mindy’s footsteps, from beginner to well-paid ‘not so famous’ writer.

Make sure you keep an eye out for my free e-letter “The Writers’ Life” too. I’ve always got so much to tell you about the best ways to get started as a well-paid writer. I don’t want you to miss out.

To your success,

Rebecca Matter

Publisher – The Writers’ Life

P.S. Mindy also shares the stories of many other writers who know this ‘secret’ skill right here. She’s excited to show you the freedom of the writers’ life is real!

Baby Boomers – “Cash Cow” for NEW Writers Today

Message: The huge opportunity in a growing market … as advertisement writers.

Hi First Name,

In our writer’s circle Carline is known as the “Queen of Poop!”

I know … it’s a tad gross, but Carline wears it like a badge of honor.

That’s because she earns a healthy SEVEN figures a year writing about how to treat awkward health issues.

It’s not because she EVER spent time in the medical industry.

It’s because,

Carline’s a writer who knows a ‘secret’ writing skill. Clearly, she knows it VERY well!

As she’s now in her 50’s, she’s smack-bang in the middle of a market that’s booming… She IS her market!

Here’s what Carline says to new writers about leaping into writing for the health industry…

“With a longer life expectancy — they’re looking for ways to stay healthy and get more out of life. These folks are not the “over the hill” gang — they’re your CASH COW!”

But, if the idea of health writing doesn’t float your boat, there are LOADS of other writing opportunities to choose from.

I’ll leave it to ‘young’ writer Mindy to tell you about them. (I mentioned her success as a “not so famous writer” yesterday.) She has her own “cash cow” story.

Plus,

Mindy shares with you, the oodles of writers (of all ages) who’ve created lucrative writing incomes…

Writing about anything under the sun.

If you’re even considering a new career as a writer don’t miss another day finding out!  Read Mindy and friends’ stories here right away.

To your success,

Rebecca Matter

Publisher, Barefoot Writer

P.S. Mindy’s secret to her writers’ life is all about the kind of writing she does. She’s spilling the beans NOW. (You won’t believe how simple it is.)

It’s NOT too Late to Launch Your Writing Career

Message: Discover the steps you can take towards a career change to writing. Even if you’re a veteran of the corporate world.

Dear First Name,

Nicole spent almost the past three DECADES in brand development. But as we know these days, that didn’t mean her job was safe.

Early in 2016 she took a huge hit…

Nicole’s boss flew across the country to lay her off . (A recently divorced single mom with a freshly re-financed mortgage to-boot.)

Ironically, a month prior, Nicole had a light-bulb moment when she was looking for a writer to work on a project with her. Learning a new writing skill to earn extra cash on the side writing in the evenings was an interesting idea.

Maybe even

An escape plan from the corporate world some day?

So Nicole spent a small amount on purchasing what she now knows is … how to learn the same ‘secret’ skill as well-paid writers.

When she lost her job, instead of panicking, she kicked her career change into high gear. She set herself to studying this simple, yet little-known writer’s skill.

Nicole’s now built a new career that pays the bills.

And spending time with her son just got a lot easier!

Here’s what she said about her lifestyle today.

“I recently went with my son and 90-year-old father to the UK and France for more than two weeks. And, I was able to keep up with my work while there,” she says. “I found a little island off the coast of Brittany where someday I would love to rent a house for a month or two and write from there.”

Remember Mindy? I’ve mentioned her in the last two emails. I wanted to remind you to take a look take a look at what you’re missing out on.

She escaped the corporate world by resigning. She’d had enough! She didn’t wait for a lay-off…

Mindy knows the same ‘secret’ writing skill Nicole discovered.

A skill that helped her step-by-step towards her career change to well-paid writer too.

So, if you think you’ve worked too long in one career to make the leap to the writers’ life … think again.

To your success,

Rebecca Matter

Your Perfect Lifestyle as a New Writer is Waiting

Message: 10 reasons to make the leap to a new career as a freelance writer today …

Hi First Name,

Over the last few days, I’ve shared stories about Mindy and some of her writer friends. And invited you to ask any questions about how to get started … but I haven’t heard from you. So, please excuse me if I’m a little blunt today.

Can you tell me what’s holding you back?

Maybe you love your job and the money but hate the long hours?

Maybe you hate your job but aren’t sure you can learn the skills to make a living as a writer? ( I assure you, you can!)

Maybe you LOVE your co-workers but HATE your boss?

Maybe you’re not getting paid what you’re worth?

Maybe you just can’t stand waking up early to the same ol’ routine and driving half way across town to get there?

Ouch!

So, I wanted to share 10 simple reasons to start your freelance writing career today.

Feel the joy … every day …

  1. Time freedom – write on your own schedule.
  2. Freedom to ‘work from anywhere’ – wherever you can open a computer – the beach, a ski chalet, a rocky mountain top.
  3. No commuting time – decide to work from home all year and enjoy the time you save. (Even if it’s just to goof off.)
  4. No money spent on traveling to the office – keep your gas money and your car expenses to spend on your trip to, say, Bora Bora!
  5. Be your own boss – work for yourself without a nosey boss looking over your shoulder or grumbling co-workers.
  6. Enjoy your creativity – you can write about anything you want.
  7. Choose your own co-workers – if you want to collaborate on a writing project you can.
  8. Be a stay-at-home parent AND enjoy a lucrative career – enough said!
  9. Get well-paid – writers write their own paycheck. When you know a ‘secret’ skill, you can get paid well even for a few hundred words. (My friend Mindy shares how in a moment.)
  10. Re-invent your perfect lifestyle – as often as you want.

So, there you have it. That’s a perfect 10 out of 10!

Here’s what Mindy said about escaping the corporate cubicle for freelance writing …

“My current definition of success is being able to pace myself to take meaningful breaks to spend time with my kids,” she said. “There are always more projects to pursue. But my kids are little just once, so balance is the biggest definition of success for me right now.”

Go here to see how Mindy changed her career path. You deserve to see if this is a good fit for you

To you success,

Rebecca Matter

Jump on This in Demand Opportunity for NEW Writers

Did you Google today?

I know I did … not even sure how many times!

Ever wonder who’s writing what you’re reading every day online?

Chances are, most of your favorite go-to websites have savvy owners. They’re paying a writers for credible, ACCURATE, INTERESTING written information that will help their visitors.

A writer they’ve probably never met who’s writing from home, a beach or maybe a cabin nestled in a clearing surrounded by two hundred year old fir trees.

Me, I’ve got a sweet view of Tampa Bay and I couldn’t be happier.

I’m just one of a whopping 4.1+ BILLION Internet users. (According to Statista.com.)

That’s great news for new writers.

PROOF – Online Writing Freedom is Growing

Currently about 46% of the world population are Internet users…

That’s an estimated 1.2 TRILLION searches a year.

Many statisticians are predicting over 50% of the world-wide population will have Internet access by 2021!

More people are getting access to online searching every day. So, more writers are needed to satisfy the growing need for various forms of QUALITY information. Freelance writers are an easy way to fill the gap!

In October 2016 Forbes Magazine shared these facts from a survey about freelance work in general …

Freelancers now make up 35% of U.S. workers and collectively earned $1 trillion in the past year. (and growing quickly)

Technology, such as the growing number of freelance platforms and apps like Uber, is also improving access to freelance gigs. Among respondents, 73% said technology has made finding freelance work easier. Sixty-six percent said the amount of freelance work they had found online increased since last year.

Freelancers are also earning more.

Why Online Searches are a Gold Mine for Writers

As Internet users, we’re purchasing more and more online. Here’s a recent purchase for my mini Aussie Shepherd, her name is Roo … ‘cause she jumps like one.

Anyway, Roo’s got nasty dry patches on her skin. Dog shampoos appear to be irritating her.

So I typed into Google search “home remedies for dry patches on dogs” and purchased online, African black soap to wash Roo.

I bought from a particular website …

Because,

  1. The website was competitive – ranked in the top five on page one of Google which made it easy to find.
  2. The very short description of what they were offering was easy to understand.
  3. I trusted the website information so I was happy, even excited about my decision to buy.

Achieving 1 thru 3 is unlikely if the website writer doesn’t have a ‘special’ skill-set. (More on that in a moment.)

Don’t get caught up in the idea that writing to sell products is like being a salesman though …

Because freelance writer Mindy is going to tell you shortly, why the key to making a great living as a writer is NOT being ‘salesy.’

Online Writing Freedom Using Social Media

Does posting on social media sound more like entertainment than work?

I know – it sounds too good to be true. But listen to this …

Even brand new social media writers can earn $2,000 a month on retainer no less! (According to American Writers & Artists Inc. – the world’s leading online training company for writers.)

Most Internet users spend a couple of hours a week on social media. So, there’s a strong trend for business owners to increase their profits by placing ads on social media. They’re going to where the customers are hanging out.

But to do it, their posts have to be ‘social’ or they’ll stand out like a sore thumb.

Business owners need help writing short, quick entries that take just a few minutes.

Facebook threads, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest and all the others.

Often these writers are even posting from their cell phones!

Now if that’s not online writing freedom, I don’t know what is …

You’re going to need the ‘special skill.’ But for social media, this is a fast-track to earning for new writers.

You can grow a business using purely social media adding up $2,000+ retainers a month. Or, as many writers do, add it as an extra service.

Writing Online for Residual Income

Maybe you’re letting a chance for some residual income slip by without even thinking this is an option for you.

Did you know Kindle books are self-published?

Bob Bly is a perfect example. He’s written and published about 95 books. He sells them on Amazon. Bob writes “How-To” books. Anything in his wheelhouse, he writes about, publishes and gets paid. He makes more than $20,000 a month as a side-line residual income.

And he doesn’t fuss about formatting or graphics. Bob pays someone a couple of hundred dollars to do that. Learning that skill doesn’t interest him!

Bob puts on his sneakers and ‘jogs’ ten feet from his bedroom to his home office to ‘work’ each day. That’s the freedom of writing online, Bob style …

Then there’s Nick Usborne. He’s a curious kind of guy who likes to dabble in new things. So, when he thought he could see the Internet as an opportunity for writers about twenty years ago, he jumped from paper to online and hasn’t looked back.

In fact, he’s learned so much, he’s written online courses on writing for the web. It’s not always “residual” income as he does a little work.

He tweaks the courses to keep them up-to-date. And contributes to training webinars every so often just to add more to the experience.

But the online courses also sell with video presentation replays. So those bring him a residual income every time they’re sold.

Making Money from Setting up Your Own Website

We’ve talked about website owners paying you to write for them. But, we haven’t talked about setting up your own website for income. We call them “Money Making Websites.”

Say you’ve got a hobby you’re crazy about…

You can answer just about any question under the sun and enjoy keeping on top of anything new. Like the ‘home remedies for dogs’ website owner.

Or this writer tucked away in Thailand. Her website tackles one thing … juicing for health. She adds fresh articles to keep her followers happy. But, she’s getting paid from purchases made on her older articles as well. Her easy to maintain website makes around $4,000 a month.

A basic DIY website will cost you less than $200 to set up and run if you’re patient enough to master a few skills.

I set up a website for my writing business, start to finish all by myself. I didn’t even know how to use a computer until around 2012. So, when I say a little patience is all you need … I know!

Set up a website on a very specific subject, LOAD up your website often with great information and get paid.

Nick’s got a REALLY SIMPLE, but unique money making website. (Mindy will tell you about that.)

Writers Who Haven’t Discovered Online Writing Freedom

How often do you ‘Google’ and leave a site because the information is hard to read or lacks any credibility?

Happens to me all the time too!

These sites NEVER attract loyal readers because they’re not helpful or interesting. They’re part of the many online pages written by writers that are unaware there even is a ‘special skill.’

About the ‘special skill’ … it’s easy, but takes some practice.

When you learn it, writing for a living becomes a lot more lucrative.

Like ‘before and after’ Steve…

Before – He was an okay writer but had no clue where to find well-paid writing opportunities. He even wrote over 300 articles for a measly $5 each.

After He discovered the ‘special skill’ AND got some guidance on where to find clients who’d pay well…

He’s paid over $200 an hour to write for industrial manufacturing businesses.

Turns out, Steve also learned how to use his 30 year career in industrial manufacturing to convert that knowledge to well-paid writing. Maybe you’ve got some on-the-job knowledge to write about too?

My friend Sherri called herself “a non-profit writer … as in writing for no profit.” She loved to write but didn’t think she could make a living out of it. When she learned the ‘special skill,’ she landed a retainer writing a newsletter for a women’s health company. Eighteen months later, she was making more every month than the entire year before.

There’s Sean who failed High School English … scrambled to make ends meet as Mr. Odd-job. Now he pays the bills as a financial writer! In fact, he says he knew his life had changed when he forgot to run his royalty check for $2,500 to the bank. He used to have to deposit a tiny $50 check straight away.

Icing on the cake for Sean … he helps homeschool his daughter. He’s not restricted to a schedule, or an office.

Online Writing Choices

There’s no doubt, online writing freedom is real. Just look at some of what you have to choose from!

  • Magazine articles
  • Website articles
  • Website home pages
  • Social Media posts. (There are writers making a six-figure income writing exclusively for social media.)
  • Social Media ads. (The ones that pop up on the right hand side.)
  • Google and many other search engine ads
  • Catalogs
  • Emails
  • Sales letters
  • E-books
  • And more

Choose Offline or Online Writing?

Learn the ‘special skill’ AND where to find clients who’ll pay you well.

Then, you choose …

Offline — AKA — printed on paper

Or

Writing exclusively online … don’t even bother with traditional publications

Or both!

The Short and Long of Online Writing

A writer can easily get paid $250 (even up to $1,000) to write a Google ad. for a client … that’s about 50 well-chosen words or so.

On the other hand, you might prefer to write a 40,000 word e-book for a client or publish one yourself.

Get the idea? Few words or many words … well-paid writers understand high QUALITY writing … it’s NOT about high quantity!

Are you a die-hard learner who just enjoys foraging for new information on any subject? If you can dive online and research it, you can write about it. In fact, the best research makes for a great writer … always ready to uncover and share the intriguing facts.

It’s time to meet Mindy, and yes, she’ll tell you about the ‘special skill.’

She’ll also tell you the simple kind of writing that helped her grow a six-figure income as a new writer…
And she’s excited to walk you along the same step-by-step path she followed.

Mindy is okay with sharing some of her 4.1+ billion readers with you. Go here to  find out if offline or online writing freedom could be real for you too TODAY.
